What Outreach has meant to you?

The Outreach Development Program became much more than just an after-school program to me; it became a place where I was able to grow, learn, create memories, and build relationships that have stayed with me throughout my life. Some of my favorite parts of the program were the different activities, field trips, and engaging experiences that allowed us to learn outside of a traditional classroom. We were always given opportunities to try something new, have fun, interact with others, and experience things that we may not have had the chance to do otherwise. Those moments helped me come out of my shell, become more confident, and develop into a more well-rounded person. Most importantly, I created genuine connections with people who encouraged me, supported me, and have continued to have an impact on my life even after my time in the program.

The program also played a major role in my academic growth. Because it was an after-school program, education was always a priority. Leaders made sure we completed our work, understood our assignments, and had the support we needed when we were struggling. Looking back, I appreciate how the program found a balance between making learning enjoyable and still holding us accountable. It gave me a safe and positive environment where I could be myself while also being pushed to become better. From the field trips and activities to the academic support and lifelong connections, every experience contributed to my growth in some way. The Outreach Development Program helped shape me into the person I am today, and I will always carry the memories, lessons, and relationships I gained from it with me.

What are you doing in your life right now?

I am post-grad student with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in digital media. Right now, I am pursuing my masters in Speech-Language Pathology.

I attended ORD starting in 2015 through 2018.
